Serengeti is Tanzania’s oldest and most popular national park; it is also a world heritage site and the 7th wonder of the world. The Serengeti is famed for its annual great migration; a million wildebeests each trek about a thousand kilometers driven by an ancient rhythm, as it fulfills its instinctive role in the inescapable cycle of life. During the migration, a frenzied mating conquest will take place to ensure the population is replenished before they plunge into crocodile-infested waters as they march on their annual exodus north to the Maasai Mara.

Even without the migration, Serengeti offers the most breathtaking game viewing, landscape, and sunsets in Africa; buffaloes, elephants, giraffes, elands, topi, kongoni, impala and Grant’s gazelle can be seen in the park. Africa’s finest predators dominate the Serengeti; here the lions, leopards, hyenas, and cheetahs terrorize the plains like they have always done for millennia.

The Serengeti is home to more than large grazers and predators; lizards, rock hyraxes, insects and over 500 bird species call the park home. Of the many birds, you will easily see ostriches, secretary birds, weaver birds and black eagles as they soar effortlessly above the Lobo Hills.

While in the Serengeti you can’t help but feel like you have all the space in the world; here the plains stretch across the endless horizons. The Serengeti is also a place of rock formations that pop from the grasslands, termite mounds, rivers lined with trees and acacia woodlands. The Serengeti is so vast that at any time, you will feel like it is only you, the great herds and the bloodthirsty predators.
