Arusha is best known as Tanzania’s safari capital, the gateway to the northern safari circuit to the Serengeti, Ngorongoro, Lake Manyara and Tarangire national parks.

The city is nestled in the shade of Mount Meru with striking views of the mighty Mount Kilimanjaro on a clear day.

Our half day walking tour is a fantastic opportunity to experience Arusha up close.

Starting with a visit to a local fruit market, our guide will give you a glimpse into a bustling Tanzanian life as you take in the sights and smells of the exotic fruits for sale. Next we will take you for a short visit to the Arusha museum, a small, locally run project that displays documents on the colonial history of Tanzania and their fight for independence.

The tour continues with a visit to Shanga (the Swahili word for ‘bead’), an initiative where craftspeople with disabilities create beautiful necklaces from recycled glass beads. For many people living with disabilities in Tanzania, employment opportunities are limited. Shanga is an incredible business venture that retails throughout Tanzania and abroad, and helps their skilled staff to earn a salary by making beautiful jewellery.
